The Feedin' Mama Mission
This website aims to be a place where older adults and those who care for them can find solutions for the difficulties of daily life, inspiration, encouragement and hopefully a laugh or a smile here or there to make your day a little brighter.
About Us... well, me I suppose.
Feedin' Mama began when I started a blog as a way to share my experiences and the things I have learned while caring for my own mother and my elderly aunt in her final years. The main issue with my mom's care at this point is her diet, she has to maintain a low sodium diet due to her chronic congestive heart failure which is why I chose the name, Feedin' Mama.
The majority of my posts do, in fact, deal with cooking low sodium meals but I'm extremely interested in the mind/body/spirit connection as well, especially as it relates to aging and I have posted on all manner of interesting items for older adults and caregivers. I began to find that I needed a better format for all of the information and topics I was collecting so I concluded that an actual official web site was in order and here we are. My main goal is to play some small part in helping older adults live lives that are as full as is possible and to provide information and encouragement to those who care for them. I welcome your questions, ideas and suggestions toward that goal.
I have been extensively involved with the older adult community in my professional life as well. I have a BS in Community Health and an MA in Christian Ministry. I directed a membership program for seniors at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville and I currently am the Director of Pastoral Care and Older Adult Ministry at Avondale United Methodist Church. I am President of the VOICE Coalition which is a professional organization for people who work with our older adult community and am also a member of COMMA, a group of local clergy that provides spiritual formation opportunities for older adults. I also serve on the Board of the Florida Christian Center.
I hope that you find Feedin' Mama a place of encouragement, information and hope and that you visit here often. I promise to keep the information up to date and, I hope, interesting.
Grace and peace,
Betsy Clark
